Multiple player discount: The GLA offers a 30% discount to families with three (3) or more registered players. The discount is applied to the third and any subsequent player registered from a single family and is to be applied to the lowest registration fees. Please contact registrar@gloucester-lacrosse.com for your discount to be applied PRIOR to completing your registrations.

Quebec Residents: In order to play in the OLA, Quebec residents up to U15 age group MUST be released by the Fédération de crosse du Québec every year. Please send an email to directeur.technique@crossequebec.com requesting your release to play in the OLA. Once you have received a response, please forward it to the GLA registrar (registrar@gloucester-lacrosse.com). Your registration is not complete, and you will not be allowed on the floor, until this release is received by the GLA registrar. If you are in the U17 age group and up, you must seek your (one time) release from Lacrosse Canada. You will need to register through their online transfer portal  https://www.lacrosse.ca/content/online-player-transfer-system and you must request to be released from Quebec to Gloucester. Please note, players/families are responsible for all release fees billed to the GLA to acquire their release.

House League (HL) to Competitive (REP) Comparison

HOUSE LEAGUE (HL)

  • Season runs from mid-April until the end of June.
  • Inter-club games and zone games are played regularly.
  • Tournament-style One Day Fun Day. More information to come.
  • Players receive a jersey.
  • Cost: no added costs beyond those of registration.

COMPETITIVE (REP)

  • Season starts after tryouts running from mid-April until the beginning of August.
  • Zone games are played regularly.
  • Participation in both LOCAL and OUT OF TOWN tournaments. Culmination of the season at the Ontario Lacrosse Festival (provincial tournament) in August in Whitby, ON.
  • Cost: players selected to a GLA competitive team will be required to pay an additional fee to cover team costs (tournaments, apparel, extra floor time, etc.) once the teams have been decided. These costs vary by age level and will be announced prior to competitive tryouts in early April. (No more than $400). Only players that make a REP team are required to pay these additional teams fees.

STEPS TO PLAY COMPETITIVE (REP)

  • If you want to tryout for a competitive team, complete registration under REP in Sportzsoft.
  • The GLA will email you the dates and times for team tryouts. We will only message those who registered as REP.
  • You must attend tryouts to be considered for a competitive team. At tryouts, parents will be provided with season expectations, tournament lists, and other important information related to the team.
  • Team rosters will be announced and communications to players will be made following tryouts.
  • If a player is not selected for a REP team, they will be referred to our HL program. No additional costs beyond the initial base registration fee will be required.

Competitive players registration notes

  • Players intending to tryout for Team Ontario must register early in order to have your Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) player card registered with the OLA in time for the tryouts. Uncarded players will not be allowed to tryout as per OLA regulations.
  • As per OLA rule MR2.10 - Any player who has not registered with their resident box association by the 3rd Sunday in March will be ineligible for a rep release.

Notes for U22 Players

  • If you would like to tryout / play for the Junior B Griffins you should register in the Junior B portal (https://www.sportzsoft.com/regApp/Login?OrgId=6860). To play U22 with Gloucester Minor Lacrosse please use the registration link above.
  • Players can be registered in both portals at the same time. You MUST be registered in the correct portal before stepping foot on the floor to play.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What equipment is required to play box lacrosse? The GLA is a member of the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA), and as such our players are required to wear the equipment required by our governing body. A full list of required equipment can be found here.
  2. What night does each level play on? For the 2024 season we anticipate HL teams will practice and play on Mondays and Wednesdays with the potential for a game or practice on the weekend throughout the season. REP teams will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Inter-zone games with opponents closer to the GLA (i.e. Nepean, Cornwall, Akwesasne) will be played during the week. Tournaments and inter-zone games with opponents located further away will be scheduled on weekends. Lady Griffins are anticipated to play on Monday and Wednesday OR Thursday. Soft Lacrosse will run for six weeks on Saturday mornings. Our goal is to adhere to this schedule as much as possible. Inevitably there will be conflicts, and occasionally a game or practice may need to be changed.
  3. Where do I play? With over 60 different associations across the province, you need to ensure that you are registering in the right place. Please click here to determine if Gloucester is the correct association for you.
