About the GLA Competitive Program

The GLA holds competitive team tryouts for both boys and girls teams in early April. Our competitive teams play a zone game schedule against other Zone 5 clubs including Akwesasne, Cornwall, Kahnawake, Kingston, and Nepean. In addition to the zone schedule, competitive teams compete in 3 or 4 tournaments (June/July) and the Ontario Provincial Lacrosse Championships (www.ontariolacrossefestival.com) in early August.

As per the GLA policy, competitive players are expected to play on the competitive team they are assigned, and to be committed to practices, zone games and tournaments. It will be very difficult to play competitive lacrosse and another spring or summer sport. It is expected that the Gloucester Griffins program and activities will be considered the priority sports commitment for our competitive players. If players aren't showing commitment required to participate at the competitive level, they will be referred to the House League program.
