President’s Message

    April 5th, 2011

It's that time of year again -- lacrosse time !!

Competitive

As many of you know, competitive lacrosse try outs began this past weekend and are scheduled to continue next weekend. This season, we have developed a Zone Schedule which will see many of our teams on the floor in the heat of battle as early as April 16th. We are very pleased to see the number of players who have demonstrated an interest in the competitive program – the coaches and evaluators will have a real challenge in sorting through the strong talent that was demonstrated on the floor in order to select competitive teams at each level.

House League

The House League Season is almost upon us – if you have not yet had an opportunity to register, or have friends who are considering playing lacrosse this season – the last registration session is scheduled for April 9th at Armstrong Arena – don’t miss your chance!

After much discussion we have developed a new and exciting approach to our House League format. Details have been posted to the House Box section of our website. Like every new endeavour, we will be depending upon volunteers to help ensure the success of the season – please consider how you could get involved. The official start to our House League program is April 17th – final schedules to be posted after the next registration.

Girls Lacrosse

Information was recently posted on the Girls Lacrosse Program – we are very excited to build upon the success of our girls program from last season. We invite all members of the Association to come to our own Ray Broadworth Tournament on Canada Day weekend to cheer on our Novice/Peewee and Bantam/Midget girls’ teams who will be competing against teams from the Toronto area.

Town Hall

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our first Town Hall Meeting held February 23rd at Kilrea Community Centre. Due to the positive feedback received, we will schedule future Town Hall Meetings to discuss programs, updates, ideas and concerns. Please check the website for these notices.

I am a firm believer that “it takes a village to raise a child” and it also takes a tremendous number of volunteers to ensure a successful and rewarding lacrosse season for every player! To that end, I would like to encourage each player, parent and sibling to consider how she/he can get involved – this is your Association – let’s make it a success!
