Changes to Facemask Regulations for 2012
The Ontario Lacrosse Assocation (OLA) has issued a sweeping change for the 2012 season which effects ALL PLAYERS UNDER THE AGE OF 17.
For 2012 all players under the age of 17 must wear a NOSCAE approved Lacrosse helmet with integrated mask, a CSA approved Hockey helmet with a CSA approved hockey cage, or a CSA approved Hockey helmet with a CSA approved lacrosse cage.

NOSCAE approved lacrosse helmets are the ones usually seen in field lacrosse and are also permitted for use in Box Lacrosse. Hockey helmets with hockey cages are widely used for box lacrosse and are legal provided that no modifications have been made to the way the cage or chin cup are affixed to the helmet.
Unfortunately, there are only two OLA approved lacrosse masks currently on the market.
The GAIT Box Senior/Junior Lacrosse masks and the OTNY Senior/Junior Lacrosse masks.
The major difference for 2012 is the requirement of the integrated chin cup which must be firmly attached to the helmet as a hockey cage is.
Players over the age of 17 may continue to use masks/cages that were approved for 2011 provided that they are affixed properly and have the appropriate chin cup.
Details on these regulations are available online at the OLA
2012 Registration Begins December 13, 2011

The End of another Season
With the end of the Ontario Lacrosse Provincial Championships, our season has come to an end. The Provincials saw three of our teams, Tyke, Girls PeeWeee, and the Midget 2 team, make to the finals of their respective divisions and all teams put on a good showing.
For those players looking to keep their hands on their sticks for a few more months, we encourage them to look into the Nemesis Field Lacrosse program which starts up in late August and runs through the fall. Otherwise, we'll see you again for Winter Lacrosse !
